Overview
All members of a faction are given a rank within the faction. Each faction has four ranks (which may be renamed). Each rank has some default permissions granted to it, though these permissions may be changed by any member of the faction with the permission to edit faction ranks.
The four default rank names and the permissions associated with them are:
- Leader: All permissions (no permissions can be removed from this rank)
- Lieutenant: Edit Ranks, Access Safe, Promote, Invite, Kick, Ban
- Sergeant: Access Safe, Invite
- Soldier: Invite
Permissions
The permissions associated with a faction can be changed using the "Edit Faction" function. The character must have the "Edit Ranks" permission to do so, however.
Faction rank permissions are granted or revoked by individuals who are of sufficient rank to possess the "Edit Ranks" permission.
The permissions and the powers they grant are:
- Edit Faction: The character has the authority to change the faction's membership mode, its alignment, and its description. Further, the character has the authority to choose locations to make into a stronghold and the ability to revoke stronghold status for a location.
- Edit Ranks: The character has the authority to change the names of faction ranks and to change the permissions granted at each rank. However, the character cannot grant permissions which he himself does not possess (thus, if the character does not have the Edit Faction permission, he cannot add that permission to another rank).
- Access Safe: If the faction has a Stronghold, the character is allowed to access the stronghold safe. Without this permission, the character does not know the combination to the safe.
- Message Board: If the faction has a Stronghold, the character is allowed to change the message that is written on the message board there.
- Promote: The character has the authority to promote another character to a different rank within the faction. The character can promote someone to his own rank but not to a rank higher then that. Additionally, the character may demote other characters, but only characters who are of a rank lower than his own.
- Invite: The character has the authority to invite other characters to join the faction. This is only relevant if the faction has a closed membership policy.
- Kick: The character has the authority to kick other characters out of the faction. The character may only kick characters of lower rank than himself.
- Ban: The character has the authority to ban any character from joining the faction. If the banned character is currently a member of the faction, that character will be kicked from the faction as well (in this case, the character must be of lower rank than the character doing the banning).
