Death and Respawn
Respawning

Character death in the Nexus is normal. It is not permanent, and has relatively few bad effects. Most of these effects will not begin to occur until the characer has risen in level.

Death occurs when the character is reduced to 0 or fewer Hit Points. Long-time players see their characters die hundreds of times.

The only penalties involved with death are:

The way to return to the game is to click the "Respawn" button in the game interface. The button will indicate the number of Action Points required to respawn (you should make sure you have enough Action Points to respawn before you do).

At any rate, simply click the button. Poof! You will be returned to life at full Hit Points.

However, you will not be in the same place you were when you died. Where you respawn to depends upon your character level and whether or not you belong to a faction.

Characters who are level 9 and lower (mortals) will spawn somewhere in Valhalla. Above that, the character may spawn into a different plane of existence.

Which plane of existence this will be again depends on the character's class. The higher the character level, the more likely the character will respawn into one of their "home planes". The home planes are:

Tier three characters - those of level 20 and above - will always respawn in their home plane. Tier two characters (those between levels 10 and 19) may sometimes spawn in Valhalla.

However, there is a twist: if your character is a member of a Faction that also has a stronghold, you will respawn within 10 squares of the stronghold's location. This will enable you to easily get home and into safety.

However, there is one small twist to this as well: if your faction's stronghold is on Valhalla, and your character is tier three, you will not respawn near the stronghold (and instead appear on your home plane).
