The Nexus Champion is perhaps the epitome of the free-will Nexus faction: a supremely adaptable soldier who is comfortable both with a sword and with a spell. The Nexus Champion gains his power through several mystical tattoos that cover his body. These tattoos are, in effect, cosmic spells written in the language of the pure Nexal mode.
The powers of a Nexus Champion are a complicated toolset and are intimately tied with the tattoo language that binds him to the Nexus. Even the spells that a Nexus Champion learns are tattooed onto his body.
| | | Tattoo of Balance (30 CP) Your body has been marked with the runes of Nexal Balance. The closer your soul lies to the center, the greater your power. This ability grants the Nexus Champion an innate damage bonus to all attacks. However, the bonus is only granted if the character's alignment is Neutral. The damage bonus is stronger the closer to true neutrality the character is, and is extremely powerful if the character's morality is exactly 0. |
| | | Tattoo of Equilibrium (60 CP) Your body has been marked with the runes of Nexal Equilibrium. The closer your soul lies to the center, the more difficult it is for your foes to harm you. This ability grants the Nexus Champion an innate defense bonus to all attacks. However, the bonus is only granted if the character's alignment is Neutral. The defense bonus is stronger the closer to true neutrality the character is, and is extremely powerful if the character's morality is exactly 0. |
| | | Tattoo of Blood (30 CP) Your body has been marked with a magical tattoo that binds its health to that of the greater Nexal powers. As the Nexus drifts towards balance, so, in turn, does your health. This ability grants the Nexus Champion a permanent regenerative ability. While the regeneration granted by this power is significantly less than that of other regeneration powers, it is always active and costs no Magic Points to use. |
| | | Tattoo of the Soul (60 CP) Your body has been marked with a magical tattoo that binds your soul's light to that of the greater Nexal powers. As the Nexus drifts towards balance, so, in turn, does your magical aura. This ability grants the Nexus Champion a permanent Magic Point regenerative ability: instead of regaining 1 Magic Point every 15 minutes, the Nexus Champion regenerates 3. |
| | | Tattoo of Bloodshed (30 CP) Your knowledge of combat has further increased. Your attacks are even more damaging. This ability adds a permanent, innate damage bonus of +2 to all attacks performed by the character with any weapon. It does not apply to spell attacks but it does apply to enhanced attacks. This ability stacks with Strong Attack. |
| | | Tattoo of Resilience (30 CP) Your body is covered with spidery tattoos that grant you resistance to damage. This is a powerful form of magical armor that protects you from all forms of damage. This is moderate protection. This is an innate power. |
| | | Tattoo of Sorcery (30 CP) You are capable of learning and casting spells. This skill allows you to learn spells. Learning spells costs additional Character Points. Casting spells costs Magic Points. |
| | | Tattoo of Strength (30 CP) Your body has been marked with spidery runes of strength. This tattoo dramatically increases your carrying capacity as well as increasing damage dealt by bows and thrown weapons. Further, barricades may be erected and removed with greater ease. This ability increases the character's overall carrying capacity by a further 50 points. In addition, damage dealt with bows and thrown weapons is increased by +2 and +1 (on top of any other strength bonuses). The character's ability to erect and remove barricades is further increased by 10 and 5 points, respectively. |
| | | Tattoo of the Eye of Death (30 CP) Your body has been marked with a magical tattoo that grants you the ability to view the Nexal ties between corpses, their souls, and their killers. This ability grants the Nexus Champion the ability to innately know which corpses belong to which characters, the names of those who killed them, and the current locations (if any) of the living aspects of both the killer and the deceased. This ability is innate and always active. |
| | | Tattoo of the Third Eye (60 CP) Your body has been marked with a magical tattoo that extends your vision of the Eye of Death into other planes of existence. This ability enhances the Nexus Champion's Tattoo of the Eye of Death ability to be able to locate killers on other planes. |
| | | Tattoo of the Origami Tiger (30 CP) Your body has been tattooed with the design of an intricate tiger. You may pull this tattoo off your body, at which time it will transform into an Origami Tiger. The Origami Tiger will obey your commands. This ability allows the Nexus Champion to summon a single Origami Tiger. The Origami Tiger is a single pet and has its own Hit Points, Magic Points, and Action Points. When any of these three statistics reach zero, the Origami Tiger will disintegrate and return to its location on your body. You may only have one Origami Tiger active from this power at a time. |
| | | Tattoo of the Bengal Tiger (60 CP) The Origami tigers you summon are now significantly stronger, faster, and more durable. This skill increases the attack, damage, Hit Points, Action Points, defense, and Magic Points of your Origami Tiger. |
| | | Tattoo of the Origami Dragon (90 CP) Your body has been tattooed with the design of an intricate dragon. You may pull this tattoo off your body, at which time it will transform into an Origami Dragon. The Origami Dragon will obey your commands. This ability allows the Nexus Champion to summon a single Origami Dragon. The Origami Dragon is a single pet and has its own Hit Points, Magic Points, and Action Points. When any of these three statistics reach zero, the Origami Dragon will disintegrate and return to its location on your body. You may only have one Origami Dragon active from this power at a time. |
| | | Tattoo of the Wandering Way (30 CP) Your body has been tattooed with a mystical map of Nexal forces. This tattoo allows you to shift your physical body in space, dissappearing from one location and appearing in another. This ability grants the Nexus Champion a form of teleportation. The character will always appear at his destination outside of any buildings and cannot teleport past wards that would normally prevent him from accessing the location. Telportation costs only 1 Action Point but a variable number of Magic Points based on the distance travelled. The character may not teleport between planes. |
| | | Tattoo of Leaguestep (60 CP) Your body has been marked with deeper runes that tie you to the Nexus, allowing you travel to greater distances for less energy. This ability doubles the maximum distance the Nexus Champion may teleport. Further, it reduces the cost of teleportation by one-half. |
